Andrea Woodner and Allison Kavey started Rivendell Dressage, Inc. in 2007.  RDI purchases, trains, and sells young dressage horses of exceptional quality.  The first crop of RDI horses achieved a national championship and multiple top 20 placings in the USDF 2008 national championships.  Andrea and Allison work together to produce well-mannered, amateur-friendly horses who are capable of competing at the highest levels of dressage.

Allison Kavey started riding at age four after being bribed by her mother to wash her face without complaint for a year in exchange for her first riding lesson.   Some 4 year olds are more stubborn than others!  She competed in eventing and hunters as a junior, but dressage was and remains her first love.   She was a member of the 1997 and 1998 Region 8 teams for the NAYRC riding Dorian, a horse she trained herself.  With Elessar, a Trakehner gelding she started under saddle, she earned her USDF Silver Medal, qualified several times for Dressage at Devon, and competed with excellent results at the Prix St Georges and Intermediare I.   A paddock injury forced his retirement in 2006.  That season, he was ready to show the Intermediare II and schooling the Grand Prix.  She competed three young horses with great success during the 2008 season - What Fun, Stedinger’s Lady, and Hojbo’s Ronaldo - finishing with one national championship and three results in the top ten in the nation.  She trains with Lendon Gray and Tom Noone, and she has also worked extensively with Uwe Steiner.
